The Ohio Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers (OHATSA) is a state chapter of the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers (ATSA). Incorporated in 1984, ATSA is a non-profit, interdisciplinary organization. ATSA was founded to foster research, facilitate information exchange, further professional education and provide for the advancement of professional standards and practices in the field of sex offender evaluation and treatment.
ATSA is an international organization focused specifically on the prevention of sexual abuse through effective management of sex offenders.
Working with adult and juvenile sexual offenders has always been challenging, but never more so than in the age of legislation designed to address victim safety and sexual offense recidivism. The Adam Walsh Act has impacted all of those who work in the sexual offender field—from those providing services to victims, to those managing, treating and assessing sexual offenders.
In OHATSA, we strive to inform sound public policy, emphasize the importance of effective treatment and sex offender management, as well as offering exceptional trainings and dialogue. OHATSA is a wonderful organization and we encourage all of you to consider joining it and national ATSA. The work of management and treatment of sexual offenders must continue in order to make the world a safer place for victims and to decrease likelihood of additional victims.
